  • English: Charles Mattathias Jacobs (1850-1919) was a civil engineer from the United Kingdom. In his early career he was a marine engineer. Later he was the chief engineer for the construction of the Hudson and Manhattan railroad tunnels in New York City, and the North River Tunnels (under the Hudson River) for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
