The City Vu Diner opened in March 1961 on a hill, overlooking Allentown at the intersection of Grape Street and MacArthur road (1831 MacArthur Road) in Whitehall Township, just north of Allentown. It was originally owned by Harold Mickley and James Osmun. When opened, it was capable of seating 100 people. Both owners were former managers at the Freihofer Baking Company.

In Feburary 1981, Osum retired and the Mickley family took over ownership of the business. The diner was sold in September 1985 to Dempsey's Restaurants and became part of the Dempsey's restaurant chain. That included a name change and extensive renovations.

In May 1991 the business was again sold to Vasilios Vardaxis, who also owned several other diners in the area. Vardaxis closed the restaurant again did significant renovations to the property, spending nearly $1,000,000, as the restaurant had a hodgepodge of alternations and additions over the years that didn't match the original 1961 construction. In April 1992, the "New City View Diner" reopened.

It remains open 24/7/365 serving the people with delicious meals.
