w:Francis, Duke of Teck (1837-1900), on his father's side a member of the House of Württemberg, but born from a morgenatic marriage preventing the inheritance of paternal titles, was known in his youth until 1863 as "Count Francis von Hohenstein" (a title granted to his mother, a Hungarian noblewoman), and from 1863 as "Francis, Prince of Teck" (a title granted him by his father's first cousin King w:William I of Württemberg (d.1864)); in 1871 (5 years after his marriage) he was created "Duke of Teck" (by his second cousin King w:Charles I of Württemberg), a title long held by the House of Württemberg. In 1866 he married w:Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge, the younger daughter of w:Prince Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge, the 7th and youngest son of King George III of the United Kingdom. His daughter was Princess Victoria Mary of Teck (1867–1953), later Queen Mary, the wife of King George V of the United Kingdom, and mother of two British kings
