Continental Radio & Television Co., trading under the Admiral brand, and supplying Globe Trotter, Radiomaster and Star Raider-branded electronics to retail chains, was established in Chicago in 1934. A pioneering TV brand, it became one of the top three in sales and was one of the first to produce color sets. In 1951, Admiral sold five million television sets, but soon the sales plummeted. Eventually, the company was sold to Rockwell International which later shut down the Admiral television line.
