The Counts of Montfort-Pfannberg took their name from the County of Pfannberg, inherited in the 15th century with the marriage of the heiress to Hugo VIII of Montfort (d.1423). The castle was lost in 1524 and the family moved their residence to Peggau. Therefore, from 1524 the line is called Montfort-Peggau. This category includes all the counts of this branch, from Pfannberg to Peggau.
