English: Cromdale was built in 1891 by Barclay Curle & Co in Glasgow (Yard No 369) for Donaldson Rose & Co, Aberdeen. She was steel hulled, measured length x breadth x depth 271.5 × 40.1 × 23.3 ft (82.8 × 12.2 × 7.1 m), had a tonnage of 1903 GRT and 1849 NET and was the last ship built for the Australian wool trade. Typical cargoes included coal from the UK to Australia, wool from Australia to America, then timber or guano homeward to the UK. Cromdale could make the trip from Sydney to the UK in 80 days. She was wrecked off the Lizard, Cornwall in 1913 in thick fog whilst on a voyage from Chile to the UK carrying nitrates. The Cromdale was the sister ship of the Mount Stewart
