Data8 (also called D-Eight, D8, D-8) is/was a backup storage system, which was developed by company Exabyte on the basis of the video system Hi8, using the latter's helical scan technology. It also used technically nearly identical tapes/cassettes to those of Hi8. The system was followed by Exabyte's technically more advanced Mammoth system.
