These are signals used along British motorways to advise drivers of speed restrictions, lane restrictions and adverse weather conditions.
The original Matrix Signal (MS1) come in several forms: central reserve-post mounted signals, slip road post-mounted, overhead mounted signals. They can only display a symbol or short pre-prepared word like 'Fog'.
Message Signal, Mark 2, (MS2) are an obsolete overhead message board and matrix symbol indicator.
Message Signal, Mark 3, (MS3) are similar to the MS2, but with an extra line of characters.
