Afrikaans: Richard (Dick) King het bekendheid verwerf met sy epiese tog van 950 km te perd vanaf Durban na Grahamstad in 1842. King was 'n Britse setlaar in KwaZulu-Natal. Gedurende 1842 het die Voortrekkers en die Britte slaags geraak en die Britte was vasgekeer in Durban. King en sy 16-jarige agterryer, Ndongeni, ontsnap egter en hulle ry Grahamstad toe om versterkings te kry. Die tog het King tien dae geneem. Ndongeni kon by gebrek aan 'n saal en stiebeuels nie die tog voltooi nie. Britse versterkings is toe per skip na Durban gestuur van waar die Voortrekkers verdryf is.
English: Richard Philip "Dick" King (1813 – 1871) was an English trader and colonist at Port Natal, a British trading station in the region now known as KwaZulu-Natal. He is best known for a historic horseback ride in 1842, where he completed a journey of in 10 days, in order to request help for the besieged British garrison at Port Natal (now the Old Fort, Durban).
