English: The Donner-Schloss (i.e. Donner Palace) built in 1854 to 1858 by Johann Heinrich Strack in Tudor Revival style for the banker Bernhard Donner, inherited in 1865 by his widow Helene Donner née Schröder, a major benefactor of Altona and founder of charities still existing (Helenenstift (Hamburg)). After her death in 1909 the family sold the mansion to the City of Altona which opened their a museum and later also vocational schools. British air raids hit the mansion in August 1943, thus burning out completely. Its ruins were removed in 1949.
