Category:ELAC Quadrosound 3401T
The ELAC Quadrosound 3401T was a hi-fi stereo receiver built by ELAC in Kiel in 1972-1973, then priced at 1098 DM. Like all ELAC receivers of the late 1960s and the 1970s, it is unusually wide (630 x 130 x 300 mm) and appropriately heavy (11.5 kg [1]), although not as heavy as the preceding models.
Contrary to the "quadrosound" moniker, this is a conventional two-channel stereo unit with 2*30 W output (a very similar Quadrosound 3402T provided marginally more power). The four output transistors, two per channel, are mounted on the rear wall. The power amp circuit is quasi-complementary - true complementary power transistors were not widely available yet. The "quadro" (pseudo quadro) effect is made up by a passive network inserted between two power amplifiers and four speakers. There is no provision for connecting to a true quadro source.
