Historic views of the former Easton Lodge, a house built by Henry Maynard in 1597 at Little Easton, Essex, England. A later house, rebuilt after a fire in 1847, was designed by William Young (1843 – 1900) with gardens by Harold Peto, and was occupied by courtesan and socialite turned champagne socialist Frances Evelyn Maynard (1861-1938), from 1893 the Countess of Warwick, who was born at Easton Lodge and lived there her whole life. A Tudor wing remaining from the original house was incorporated into the Young design. This wing was destroyed by fire in 1918; the remainder of the house was demolished in 1947 after Second World War military occupation. The gardens of the Lodge remain and are under reconstruction.
