English: Warning: A sound and light show, which was performed on the tower in June 1989 by the corporation La Mode en images for the tower's 100th anniversary, is protected under copyright. On request from the corporation La Mode en images, the Paris Court of Appeal decided that this dynamic display had been an "original visual creation" protected by copyright and the Court of Cassation, France's judicial court of last resort, upheld that ruling, cf. [1]. Videos or a series of photos, or even a single photo, that clearly display elements of this dynamic sound and light show may be copyright violations. These elements may include the fireworks display or projected images. Warning: Nowadays, various illuminations are used on the tower. They include a fixed lighting system, installed in 1985 and replaced in 2004, sparkling lights, installed in 2003, and a light beacon. [2] Temporary illuminations have also been used on special occasions. [3] The Société d'exploitation de la tour Eiffel (SETE) states that the various illuminations of the tower are trademarked and claims that they are under copyright. [4], [5], [6]
