On either side of Ayaş (the modern name for Elaiussa Sebaste) and visible from the highway are some remains of what must have been one or more aqueducts stretching for miles, and ultimately feeding the town. They carried water from the Lamos ("Lemon") river. Some pictures show a large arch near the theatre and agora, it is part of a stretch of aqueduct in the town centre. More information can be found on the web in the article "The Aqueduct of Elaiussa Sebaste in Rough Cilicia” by Dennis Murphy.
