English: Venerable Emil Joseph Kapaun (20 April 1916 – 23 May 1951) was a Roman Catholic priest and United States Army chaplain who died in the Korean War. 24 February 2025, Pope Francis has declared him a Venerable and he is a candidate for sainthood. He was posthumously awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in the Korean War, His feast day is celebrated every year on 23 May.
