English: There are five states of this engraving, an unusually high number for Dürer, and a large number of preparatory drawings. These document the great care with which Dürer planned this design. In it the longest, most prominent inscription he ever made on an engraving is displayed: Albrecht Dürer of Nuremberg made this 1504/ (Albert[us] Dvrer Noricvs faciebat 1504).
