"The Religious Medicine" (1906), one of the eight painted panneaux by Veloso Salgado to decorate the frieze of the Great Hall of the new Lisbon Medico-Surgical School building (currently, the main building of the NOVA Medical School, Faculty of Medical Sciences of Nova University of Lisbon). This panel features six characters of Greco-Roman mythology associated with Medicine: Asclepius, Pluto, Jaso, Panacea, Hipocon, and Telesphorus or Podalirius. |
