English: Street corner at Calle 67 x 50 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Commemorates the dismantling of a great pre-Columbian Maya pyramid which formerly covered 3 city blocks. The demolition was considered from early Colonial times, but the structure was so large the task was judged "impossible". Centuries later it was done by order of the Governor of Yucatan in 1800, with a marker celebrating the completion of the "impossible" feat. The Church of San Cristobal and other nearby buildings were built with some of the stonework salvaged.
