The Pacific koel, (Eudynamys orientalis), also known as the 'cooee bird', whose distinctive call is heard from September to March in Heinrich Gerns Park. It is seldom seen despite its conspicuous call. The bird parasitizes the nests of Magpie-larks and other medium sized birds.
