English: Ferns ( short for Fearna Mór Maedhóg) is a small historic town in north County Wexford, Ireland with a population of about 900. It is 16 km from Enniscorthy, where the Gorey to Enniscorthy N11 road joins the R745 regional road. The ruins of Ferns Castle are in the centre of the town.

Nederlands: Ferns ( Iers: Fearna) is een klein Iers historisch stadje in het noorden van County Wexford met ong. 900 inwoners. Ferns zou gesticht zijn in de 6de eeuw met de oprichting van een klooster in 598 opgedragen aan de H. Maedoc, die bisschop van Ferns was geweest. De stad werd de hoofdplaats van het koninkrijk Leinster. De meest bekende onder hen was Dermot MacMurrough die herinnerd wordt als de vorst die de Anglo-normandiërs in 1169 naar Ierland vroeg.
