1 May 1945: established as Bombing Fighting Squadron 74A (VBF-74A) "Cavaliers";
1 August 1945: redesignated VBF-74;
15 November 1946: redesignated VF-2B;
1 September 1948: redesignated VF-22;
6 June 1958: disestablished.
