The flora of the Shire of Bulloo is typical of the Channel Country with habitats ranging from permanent and ephemeral wetlands to arid slopes, gibber plains and rugged, low hills.

The Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia Channel Country Bioregion covers a large area, extending into South Australia, the Northern Territory and New South Wales. The name comes from the numerous intertwined rivulets that cross the region, which cover 150,000 km² of the otherwise arid countryside.
