According to the police chronicle for Sarstedt from 1867 to 1873, a peace celebration was held in Sarstedt on June 18, 1871, to mark the "happy outcome" of the war between France and Germany. Two peace oaks were also planted on this occasion. The Peace Oak 1871 shown here is located on the east side of the St. Nicolai Church in Sarstedt (Lower Saxony, Germany).
