English: In pre-Columbian art of Costa Rica, the motif of the frog it is common. Various roles are attributed to the frog in mythology; it is present at the creation of the sea, it participates in funerary rites as the burial specialist's assistant, and it possesses a dual symbolism related to the fertility and death. The presence of large hind legs probably represents a kind of tree frog from Costa Rica.
