English: The Gates of the City Monument, located on City Gates Plaza on Ponta Delgada Boulevard in Fall River, Massachusetts, celebrate the sister-city relationship between that Fall River and Ponta Delgada, the capital of the Portuguese island of São Miguel in the Azores. The monument is a full-scale replica of the Portas da Cidade (city gates) in Ponta Delgada, the largest city in the Azores. On the Fall River replica, the west-facing side of the monument features at the top a three-dimensional version of the Fall River city seal, while the seal of Ponta Delgada is on the east side. The monument, which is 60 feet (18.3m) tall and 30 feet (9.1m) wide, was completed and dedicated in 2006. Almost half of the population of Fall River claims Portuguese roots, according to Census Bureau data. Sources: [1], [2], [3])
