English: George Wang Su-ta (also known by courtesy name (字), Zanyu 贊虞; Catholic name, George Wang; art name, Molang 墨浪) was a Chinese painter. He was born in Wuqing, Hebei. He started painting when he was twelve, and became a career artist in his early twenties. Between 1934 and 1936 he was a student in the Fine Arts Department of Fu Jen Catholic University of Peking (Fu Jen CUP). Under the influence of Chen Yuandu, the Dean of the Fine Arts Department and his mentor, he joined a group of artists at Fu Jen CUP who were doing Christian paintings. In 1937 he converted to Catholicism, and then worked exclusively on Christian-themed paintings.[1]
