English: George Webster (1797 - 1832) was an English marine painter. He was a painter who carried some of the Dutch style from the 18th into the 19th century. His pictures of battleships off the coast are distinctive and well composed, with the elements of sea and sky well handled. Webster travelled far afield, visiting Holland, Tripoli and the Gold Coast of Africa amongst other places.[1]
