About Gibson SG 100 series (1971-1972) and SG I series (1972-1974)
  • Gibson SG 100 (late 1971-late 1972) was made of maple, slightly larger body than preceding SGs, equipped one single-coil pickup (no adjustable polepiece, molded by black plastic cover) in flat metal ring angled mounted on neck-side, tune-o-matic installed through a flush-mounted rectangle base plate/tailpiece, three-point elevated pickguard (as on SG Pro), and flat metal plate with output jack, tone and volume, mounted on body edge. SG 200 & SG 250 was two pickup models. (Bulli 1989)
  • Gibson SG I (late 1972-c.1974) was retained the maple construction and larger body, equipped small humbuckers (no adjustable polepiece, covered with black plastic, height-adjustable) mounted on bridge-side, stop tailpiece bridge, semicircular black control plate. SG II & SG III were two pickup models. (Bulli 1989)
