A medrese is often part of a complex, as is the case here. But it is not a mosque. The madrasah (English spelling) adjacent to the Halil’ür-Rahman Mosque aka Döşeme Mosque (Şanliurfa) was built in 1175 (but saw repairs and restorations during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent and in 1810). It is believed that there is a water source feeding Balıklıgöl under the madrasah, which is designed in an L shape.
