Willem Johan Jacob (Hans) Tak (April 11, 1916 in Schiedam –– September 26, 1961 in Amsterdam).[1] was a dutch businessman and racing driver in the 1950s.

Racing history

As a businessman he was involved with the N.V. Automobielbedrijf Splendid Cars, Keuls & Co. He also was involved with Hoffman’s Restaurant, Bodega in Slijterij.(portrait, 1945) He died in the Binnengasthuis in Amsterdam after injuries from a fire, possibly caused by smoking in bed.

He usually drove Mercedes-Benz (300 SL "SG-10-77", see own category; also 220 SE) or Ferrari (entrant: W.J.J. Tak).[1]

  • 1954. Alpine Rally. Triumph TR2 with owner Joseph Kat. Red/white, UK license "GN-03-00". Part of the Triumph team, won "Team prize".[2]
  • 1955, April 29–May 7. Tulpenrallye. Winner 300 SL. With Johan (?) Niemöller. See images below.
  • 1955, May 22. Circuit de dieppe. 300 SL.
  • 1955, May 29. Zandvoort. 300 SL. Winner.(1 picture)
  • 1955, July 10. Coppa delle Dolomiti. 300 SL. Place overall: 10.[2]
  • 1955, July 24. Lisbon Grand Prix. Ferrari 250 Monza, 3-litre s/n 0420M (#10). Placement: 9.[3]
  • 1955, Aug 7. Zandvoort. Ferrari. Winner.
  • 1955, Sept. 4. Skarpnäck, Stockholm. Ferrari 250 Monza. Place (sunday): 2 (behind Bonnier). Brought the 300 SL for "Tourist class", but had serious accident in practices (saturday).
  • 1956, January. Rallye Monte Carlo. See five images below (in category).
  • 1956, May 12. Nurburgring 1000 km. 150 S Maserati, entered by Beels Racing, with Henk van Zalinge. Disqualified.[4][5] The 150S was most likely #1660, the car Georges Berger from Belgium had purchased from the factory. This car was later re-numbered (#2411) and upgraded to 250S-specs and sold to the US. Today its with Marc Davies from Belgium. Ciao! Walter. Others say it is the #1667.[6] (maybe the same)
  • 1956, ?. Zandvoort. 300 SL. Winner.
  • 1956 July 8. GP Rouen. 300 SL #46. Did not finish.[7]
  • 1956 July 22. GP di Bari. Class 1 (up to 2-litre): Maserati 150S #28. Finished 13. Class 2 (over 2 litre): 300 SL #68 finished 10. [8].
  • 1956 Giro delle Calabria, 300 SL.
  • 1957, June 9. Zandvoort, Ferrari 750 Monza #32 (see picture below). Also: Borgward Isabella TS at "Pinksterraces"?[9]
  • 1957 Tulpenrallye. 300 SL #1. (1 picture)
  • 1958. Tulpenrallye. 300 SL #1 with W.C. Niemöller.[10]
  • 1959 Rally Monte-Carlo. 220 SE "ZK-42-91".(3 pictures)
  • 1960 Januar 19.–23. Monte-Carlo rally. With Swaab, 220 SE #126, start Warszaw, finishing place: 5.[11]
  • 1960 May 2.–7. Tulpenrally XII. 300 SL #7 with R. S. de Boer.(1 picture)(1 picture)
  • 1960 April 7.–9. 29th Rallye International de Genève. 220 SE with Rob Gorris.[12]
