Der 1177 durch einen Aufstand aus Polen vertriebene Mieszko III. finanzierte die Rückeroberung seines Landes mit Hilfe jüdischer Geldgeber, denen vermutlich ab 1181 zur Schuldentilgung die Münzstätten Gnesen und Kalisch überlassen wurden.
English: The bracteates with Hebrew names are among the peculiarities of Polish coinage in the 12th and early 13th centuries. Mieszko III, expelled from Poland by an uprising in 1177. financed the reconquest of his country with the help of Jewish financiers, to whom the mints of Gniezno and Kalisch were probably left from 1181 to pay off their debts.
