The Henry Clay Statue of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA was commissioned in 1856, after efforts to raise funds for such a statue began in 1852. The artist was Joel T. Hart. The completed statue was inaugurated on 12 April, 1860, erected in the median of Canal Street, New Orleans at the corner of St. Charles. Decades later it became a hinderance to traffic and streetcar lines, and in 1900 it was removed to Lafayette Square, where it remains.
