The French Hercule-class of 100-gun ships of the line were built over a period of more than 30 years, and most of them were converted from the original sail-only configuration to a combination of steam and sail. They numbered the Hercule and Jemappes (launched in 1836), Tage (launched in 1847), Henri IV (launched in 1848), Austerlitz (launched in 1852), Fleurus (launched in 1853), Prince Jérôme (launched around 1854), Duguay-Trouin, Turenne, Ulm, Wagram and Navarin (launched in 1854), and Eylau (launched in 1856).
