Hessy's Music Center Sign
This original store signs is from Hessy's, which was one of Liverpool's main suppliers of musical instruments. It was located at 62 Stanley Street, on the corner of Whitechapel in the city centre. This shop was run by Frank Hessy, ably assisted by Jim Gretty.
Gretty was the man who sold John his first real acoustic guitar for £17 in 1957. After becoming the Beatles' manager one of Brian Epstein's first tasks was to settle the outstanding credit of £200 due to Hessy's for the group's instruments.
