English: The Hotel Abbott also known as the Fisher Building, was designed and built in 1890 by architect Elmer H. Fisher. The building was leased to Mark L. Abbott who opened his eponymous hotel. Fisher ran the hotel himself for several years after a maelstrom of legal troubles ended his architectural practice in 1891, before leaving Seattle entirely for Los Angeles in 1893. The hotel, later owned by the Mackintosh family, operated until 1920 when the building was extensively remodeled for retail use by architect H.B. Pearce, replacing most of the arched windows with large picture windows for clothier Fahey-Brockman, who would rename the building after themselves. The building would be demolished in 1940 for the F.W. Woolworth Building, currently Ross Dress for Less.
