English: The Inverness-Shire was a steel-hulled four-masted barque built in 1894 by Robert Duncan & Co, Port Glasgow for T. Law & Co., Glasgow. Dimensions: 282.7 × 42.6 × 24.5 ft (86.1 × 12.9 × 7.4 m). Tonnages: 2,307 GRT and 2,147 NRT. Rigged with nothing above double top and topgallant sails (Jubilee rig). 1915 was towed into Hobart, Tasmania, after having been totally dis-masted in the Australia bay. 1816 the ship was sold to Norway (Sven O. Stray, Kristiansand) and renamed Svartskog. October 1920 disappeared at sea on voyage from Newport, VA, to Buenos Aires with a cargo of coal. Posted missing by Lloyd's on 15 July 1921.[1][2][3]
