The typical patches of the Italian marines (Fucilieri di marina, San Marco regiment and formerly other units) are worn on the cuffs of sailor's uniforms, although they have been worn on the collar of army-style coats, and at the sides of the neck on World war II collarless paratrooper coats. (In fact, such coats had been originally designed for beeing worn by marines with a sailor's shirt, and with the patches displayed on the coat's cuffs, and had subsequently been adopted by paratroopers who wore their patches ad the sides of the neck).
