English: The jackblock construction technique is a building method in which jacks and blocks of concrete are used to construct high rise buildings at ground level. The building method starts by constructing the roof at ground level. When the roof is finished, the construction is lifted using the jacks and concrete blocks to build the top floor at ground level, etc. Invented by the Costain Group, the first building made with this method was around 1963 in Coventry, England. In the Netherlands about 10 (government) buildings were constructed, roughly between 1965 and 1978. Note: the method should not be confused with lift slab construction.

Nederlands: Het jackblocksysteem is een bepaalde manier van bouwen. Kenmerkend aan de bouwmethode is dat de bouw van een meerdere verdiepingen tellend bouwwerk geheel of grotendeels rond maaiveld plaatsvindt. Qua verdiepingen wordt daar gestart met de bouw van de bovenste verdieping. Nadat deze gereed is, wordt deze zodanig opgevijzeld dat eronder de bouw van de een na hoogste verdieping kan plaatsvinden. Verdieping na verdieping wordt zo gebouwd en opgevijzeld totdat het bouwwerk op hoogte is.
