Lophostemon confertus, the brush box, is a small to medium sized tree widely planted ornamentally in 7th Brigade Park. It also occurs naturally though in low numbers. Bark is shed annually, except for a persistent stocking on the mid to lower trunk. Many of the ornamental plantings have failed due to inappropriately locating trees that require particular site conditions. Naturally occurring Lophostemon confertus in 7th Brigade Park are found on slopes rather than floodplains or along drainage lines.
