English: The Louis Riel Monument was unveiled on 31 December 1971 on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It consists of a concrete statue of Louis Riel created by artist Marcien Lemay nestled within two curved shells forming an open cylinder created by architect Etienne Gaboury. It led to protests and was vandalized numerous times, and was removed from the grounds in 1994. It was rededicated at the Université de Saint-Boniface in November 1995.
