English: The Midland Red Omnibus Company was the new name adopted in 1974 for The Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company, a bus operator founded in 1905. Under both legal names, the company traded under the name 'Midland Red'. Having been under state control since 1969, in 1981 the company was split up into 6 in preparation for privatisation. These were:
- Midland Red North
- Midland Red East (which changed its name to Midland Fox in 1984)
- Midland Red South
- Midland Red West
- Midland Red Express, renamed Midland Red Coaches in May 1985 (later merged with Midland Red West post privatisation)
- Midland Red Engineering
