English: Moritz Thomsen was the president of the Centennial Mill Co. and grandfather of the author of the same name. This residence was built for Otto Ranke in 1889 at 916 Terry Avenue, at the corner of Madison Street. It was designed by Elmer Fisher. After Ranke died in 1892, the Moritz Thomsen family purchased the home, and they lived there until 1926. In its latter years, the house was a dormitory for nurses at Columbus Hospital (later Cabrini Hospital). The home was razed in 1957.
