Office buildings at Nos. 6 & 8 Rumford Place, Liverpool. Built c.1840 in stucco to ground floor and brick with stone dressings and slate roof. "Headquarters of James Dunwoody Bulloch the Confederate Agent who commissioned Confederate Cruisers to be built in England, mainly on Merseyside under the cover of the Southern Cotton Commissioners. The most famous of these ships was the CSS Alabama. This building was in effect the Confederate Embassy in England."
