Nestor's Sporting Goods at 2510 MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township. was a family owned and operated business which opened in June 1946. The store was one of the oldest owned sporting goods stores in the area. For 65 years, the store provided a full line of sporting goods products, from tennis racquets, golf clubs, fishing, bowling, hunting and camping equipment.

The store was founded by Peter W Nestor who was an experienced sportsman, having fished in the streams of Southern Germany, Switzerland, and France while serving with the US Army Occupation Forces after World War II. He also had traveled extensively in Canada and the United States, making his experience available to various sportsman's clubs. He opened the store as a fishing shop along Route 145 in Cementon In October 1952, the shop moved to its long-time location on MacArthur Road and the business later expanded into other outdoor activities such as backpacking, skiing, kayaking and snowboarding.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Nestor also played a role in the restoration of the Lehigh River as a sport fishing area by sponsoring periodic releases of large numbers of trout into the river. In 1978, he retired from the store and it was taken over by his son, Peter M Nestor.

In the 1980s, with the expansion of the MacArthur Road shopping corridor, the store faced competition with national chain sporting goods stores such as Sports Authority and Dicks, but Peter Nestor managed to carve out a niche with expertise and selections not offered by the larger chains. In 1997, a satellite store opened in Quakertown, but it closed in 2006 to focus on its Whitehall location. The store especially built a reputation for high-quality skiing gear, and in 2006 the store was honored by Ski Magazine with the designation of Top Gold Medal Shop in the United States.

In April 2011, it was announced that the store was closing and would be sold to the Buckman's Ski and Snowboard Shop, which mainly had stores in the Philadelphia area and was interested in expanding into the Allentown area. The store's founder, Peter W. Nestor, passed in February 1997
