This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as
Ogasawara Islands.
|
English: A geographically ambiguous term, covering both the Bonin Islands (Japanese: Ogasawara-gunto) and the larger territory including Iwo Jima and the other Volcano Islands (Japanese: Ogasawara-shoto) administered by Japan as the Ogasawara Subprefecture of Tokyo. The larger group is sometimes distinguished as the Ogasawara Archipelago, although this is also frequently used in English for the Bonins alone.
