Deaccessioning
[edit]On March 21, 2014, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that these six paintings (and others) had been placed for sale with the auction house Christie's New York.[1]
The family of Rev. Patrick J. Garvey claims that they are the owners of his portrait by Eakins.[2]

[edit]- Portrait of Archbishop James Frederick Wood (1877). Sold in 2015 to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, Arkansas.[3]
- Portrait of Reverend James P. Turner (1900). Auctioned at Christie's NY, November 19, 2015; sold for $221,000.[4]
- Portrait of James A. Flaherty (1903). Auctioned at Christie's NY, May 19, 2016; sold for $185,000.[5]
- Portrait of Dr. Patrick J. Garvey (1902). Offered for auction at Christie's NY, November 21, 2017, Lot 91, estimate: $70,000-100,000. Unsold
