Public domain logo The last provincial notes of England and Wales were withdrawn in 1921: they are all in the public domain, because they were issued before 31 December 1953. The copyright term in United Kingdom for currencies is the year of design + 70 years + the end of the calendar year.

Not to be confused with later private banknotes and local currency notes, such as the Brixton pound and the Black Sheep banknotes. Many of them are still in copyright.
