English: Opened in 1906 and named after Queen Victoria, the Royal Victoria Infirmary is one of the two main hospitals in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, along with the Freeman Hospital. This has been the case since the completion of a re-organisation running from 2005 to 2010 which saw the transfer of most services from the city's third general hospital, Newcastle General Hospital, to the RVI and Freeman. This included the transfer of the A&E department from the General to a new facility in the RVI.
