English: This street is named after Alves Redol, full name António Alves Redol (born 29 December 1911 - died 29 November 1969) who was one an influential Portuguese neorealist writer. One of his novels called Gaibéus was the starts a series of works of fiction depicting the harsh lives of peasants and fishermen in Portugal, in the first half of the 20th century: Gaibéus (1939), Marés (1941), Avieiros (1942) and Fanga (1943).
