Note: The idea that a circumscribed pentagram with one point down is "black" (in contrast to a circumscribed pentagram with one point up) basically originated with mid-19th-century French occultist Eliphas Levi (see chapter 5 of his 1856 book Dogma and Ritual of High Magic for his assertions that the inverted pentagram is associated with disorder, Satan, and the head of the Goat of Mendes).
